Instructional Technology in the K-12 Setting

Instructional technology has a meaningful and important role in the K-12 setting. Schools feel pressure to keep up with the ever changing technology world in order to prepare students to enter the work force. However, teachers and administrators often find it difficult to integrate meaningful technology into their current curriculum. To assist teachers and administrators in understanding the implementation of IT, the following frameworks can be referenced. The TPACK framework helps all educators understand the importance of having, and maintaining, strong pedagogical, technological, and content knowledge. The SAMR Model can guide teachers during lesson design and assist administrators in understanding how technology should be implemented in the classroom.
